A.M. BARBE HIGH SCHOOL

SOCCER BOOSTER CLUB

ARTICLE I

Name

The Official Name of this organization is the A.M. Barbe High School Soccer Booster Club (hereinafter abbreviated BSBC).

ARTICLE II

Mission Statement

The mission of the BSBC is to give parental and community support to the soccer program to allow it to achieve its objectives, which include the development of student athletes through participation in the soccer program. The principles of sportsmanship, teamwork, fair play, leadership, and respect for authority are the basic guidelines for the operation of every aspect of the organization. This will be accomplished primarily by involvement from players and parents in the operation of the organization.

ARTICLE III

Membership

Membership will be extended to each adult member of a registered player’s immediate family, players, all coaches and assistant coaches, any Barbe High School teacher, principal, assistant principal, or anyone else deemed appropriate by the BSBC executive board. The voting membership will be limited to Parents or legal guardians of a registered player, the Barbe High School faculty representatives, and Barbe High School principal (or his designee).

ARTICLE IV

Affiliation

The program follows the guidelines of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association and is responsible to the Calcasieu Parish School Board through the High School Principal. The BSBC is a not-for-profit organization.

ARTICLE V

Seasonal Year

The BSBC will operate on a fiscal year beginning on May 1 and ending the following April 30. The financial budget and officer’s terms will follow this schedule.

ARTICLE VI

Executive Board

An executive board consisting of a minimum of sixteen (16) voting members will direct the BSBC. This board (with the exception of Freshmen Class Representatives) will be elected by a majority of the voting membership present at a general membership meeting held before the May 1 deadline for starting a new fiscal year. The BSBC board members will be:

Term of office will begin May 1. Any office can be held by more than one member, but each office receives only one vote. Any vacancies or incomplete terms will be filled by appointment by the President (an incomplete term of President will be filled by the 1st Vice President) until elections take place at the designated general membership meeting before the beginning of the next fiscal year.

Prior to the general membership meeting to elect new officers, the president shall appoint a nominating committee consisting of a minimum of ten (10) persons. At least 6 of these persons should be current executive board members. A meeting of the nominating committee shall be held to nominate Executive Board Members for the succeeding year. At least seven (7) committee members will be considered a quorum and nominations will be by a majority vote. The President will submit such nominees to the general membership by the next general membership meeting. Nominations shall also be accepted from the floor. Voting will be by the voting membership only.

 

ARITCLE VII

General Membership Meetings

Meetings for the general membership will be conducted no less than once per year with at least one-week prior notice to all members. Bylaw changes and budget review will be communicated at each of the general membership meetings. The BSBC President or his designee will preside over attendance, of which at least three must be BSBC Board members.

ARTICLE VIII

Finances

The BSBC will operate on a fiscal year budget prepared by the board. All finances are subject to routine audit and open for inspection to the general membership. The school Treasurer will assist in accounting and depositing all funds. All receivables shall be deposited into and regulated by the A.M. Barbe High School account.

ARTICLE IX

Constitution and By-laws

The BSBC will be operated according to two sets of guidelines. The basic organization exists under the BSBC Constitution. Additional details for the organization exist under the guidance of the BSBC By-laws. Changes to the BSBC Constitution can be made only with a majority approval of the voting membership present at a general membership meeting. Changes to the BSBC By-laws can be made by either approval of 2/3 of the BSBC executive board or by a majority approval of the voting membership present at a general membership meeting.

ARTICLE X

Exceptions

Anything not covered in the BSBC Constitution or By-laws shall be the responsibility of the BSBC Executive Board. The BSBC Executive Board shall take action in the best interest of the membership in all matters.

  1. BSBC EXECUTIVE BOARD JOB DESCRIPTIONS

       

    1. President.

         

      1. Presides over the meetings of the general membership and the executive board.

         

      2. Recruits other help as needed to achieve the objectives of the BSBC.

         

      3. Insures that the club has a budget and operates within the limits of the budget.

         

      4. Oversees the activities of the BSBC executive board and its members.

         

      5. Elected by the voting membership to a one-year term, which begins on May 1.

         

      6. Prerequisites for being elected to this position include prior service on the executive board.

       

    2. 1st Vice-President

         

      1. Second in command.

         

      2. Presides in absence of president.

         

      3. Responsible for organizing committees of members to maintain the field, buildings, and all physical assets of the club.

         

      4. Responsible for origination and operation of the concession stand.

         

      5. Elected by the voting membership to a one-year term, which begins on May 1.

       

    3. 2nd Vice-President

         

      1. Third in command.

         

      2. Presides in absence of President and 1st Vice-President.

         

      3. Works closely in conjunction with the Treasurer in all matters of finance and fund raising.

         

      4. Responsible for oversight and coordination of gate concessions.

         

      5. Elected by the voting membership to a one-year term, which begins on May 1.

       

    4. Vice President of General Fundraising

         

      1. Responsible for organizing and directing committees of members to carry out all fundraising projects and events except the major fundraiser. These include but are not limited to:

           

        1. Field Sign Sales.

           

        2. Program Advertisement Sales.

         

      2. Elected by the voting membership to a two-year term, which begins May 1 of every odd numbered year.

       

    5. Vice President of Major Fundraising

         

      1. Responsible for the major fundraiser, which is designated by the Executive Board.

         

      2. Elected by the voting membership to a two-year term, which begins May 1 of every even numbered year.

       

    6. Vice President of Communications and Public Relations

         

      1. Responsible for Communications with the club members (phone committee, newsletter, etc).

         

      2. Responsible for coordinating all press and news coverage of the organization.

         

      3. Elected by the voting membership to a two-year term, which begins May 1 of every odd numbered year.

       

    7. Vice-President of Hospitality

         

      1. Responsible for organizing committees of members for prayer breakfast, banquets, and other social events and meetings of the BSBC.

         

      2. Elected by the voting membership to a one-year term, which begins May 1.

       

    8. Secretary

         

      1. Maintains minutes from each board meeting and general membership meeting.

         

      2. Updates and publishes both Constitution and Bylaws as they are revised.

         

      3. Assist in typing and distribution of correspondence, notices of meeting, and keeps current roster of members.

         

      4. Elected by the voting membership to a two-year term, which begins May 1 of every odd numbered year.

       

    9. Treasurer

         

      1. Responsible for keeping track of all finances of the BSBC.

         

      2. Coordinates the BSBC funds through the A.M. Barbe High School treasurer.

         

      3. Accounts for income and expenses and insures that the club operates within the limits of the Budget.

         

      4. Elected by the voting membership to a two-year term, which begins May 1 of every even numbered year

       

    10. Class Representatives (minimum of eight)

         

      1. Represents each class at the executive board meetings.

         

      2. Assist Vice-President of Comm & PR with telephone committee and notification of players and members.

         

      3. Responsible for insuring that concerns and other issues are properly dealt with and that the program is fairly administered to benefit each class.

         

      4. Serves as a liaison between the Executive Board and class members and players.

         

      5. Recruits volunteer help for special projects (fundraisers, concession stand, field maintenance, etc.) to support the program.

         

      6. Elected (except for freshmen representatives who are appointed) by the voting membership to a one-year term, which begins May 1. Representatives must have a student player in the class they represent.

       

       

       

    11. Faculty Representatives (two – one for Boys Teams, one for the Girls Teams)

      Responsible for coordination of all BSBC functions with A.M. Barbe High School

         

      1. Works closely with the head coaches verifying player eligibility and coordinating transportation for all away games.

         

      2. Appointed (optionally) to a one-year term, which begins May 1, by A.M. Barbe High School Administration as a non-voting representative on the Board.

       

    12. Head Coach

         

      1. Responsible for training and development of all players.

         

      2. Responsible for verifying player eligibility along with faculty representative, and assuring compliance with all LHSAA rules and regulations.

         

      3. Responsible for the recommendation of assistant coaches (to be approved by the BSBC executive board and/or A.M. High School Administration)

         

      4. Either appointed by the A.M. Barbe High School Administration or selected by a committee appointed by the BSBC executive board and approved by the A.M. Barbe High School Administration.
