HEAD. COACH : Jimmy Shaver
Head Coach Jimmy Shaver graduated from Kinder High School in Kinder, Louisiana in 1967. While there he played football, basketball and ran track. He was chosen All District Running Back in 1965 and Running Back and second team Line Backer in 1966.

In 1967, District Champ in Track. Coach Shaver graduated from McNeese University in 1974 with a B.S. Degree in Physical Education. He earned a Master's Degree in 1981.

Coach Shaver began his coaching career at Immaculate Conception School in Lake Charles for two years and then went to St. Louis High School where he coached for three years. In 1977 he came to Barbe High School as an Assistant Coach and the Offensive Coordinator. He has served as Head Coach at Barbe since 1982.

As Head Coach of Barbe High School he is the schools all-time leader in wins. He has never had a losing season as head coach of the Bucs, and he will start this year with an impressive record of 146-67. Coach Shaver has led his Bucs to the play-offs a total of sixteen times.

He was named "The 1980’s Coach of the Decade" in Calcasieu Parish. He also was voted second for Coach of the Decade in the 1990’s! In 1996, He was named "District 3-5A Coach of the Year!" Coach Shaver and his Barbe Bucs compiled the most wins (81) and the best winning percentage (69.8%) of any team in any class in Southwest Louisiana during the 1990’s.

With this man at the helm, excellent assistant coaches, and the outstanding Barbe Buc team members we are looking forward to an exciting and rewarding season!
