Student Council

    A.M. Barbe Student Council is composed of 6 members of the Executive Student Council and four class Student Councils, consisting of 22 members each, a total of 95.  Each class council works together, supported by the Constitution of the Barbe Student Council.  The Executive Board is elected by their Student Council peers.  After the initial Class sign-up of candidates, (May - upperclassmen, Sept. - Freshman) the student body, along with the faculty elects the class Officers and Senators for the following term.  ONLY FRESHMAN do not require prior experience on student council from middle school.  Those upper class men wishing to  run for an Officer's position in a particular class must have one year's previous experience as Senator or Officer.  Likewise, those wishing to run for Executive Student Council must have previous experience on Council and be an incoming Junior or Senior.  All Student Council members are required to perform 12 hours of a community service project each semester as designated by their class.  

 

GPA qualifications: Executive - 2.8
Class Officer  - 2.5
Class Senator - 2.0

 

The purpose of Student Council is to promote leadership, personal growth, faculty/staff appreciation, school service/beatification, student body representation, community service, serve as school hosts and promote spirit and loyalty.
