Barbe Peer Initiative

BPI

What we do:

The Barbe Peer Initiative (BPI) club, a student-driven organization, will strive to treat the root causes of suicide while assisting fellow students in overcoming challenges such as bullying, depression, grief, substance abuse, and stress through community outreach programs and on campus projects.

Applications & fees:

Applications for new members will be available in August 2026. Membership in the Barbe Peer Initiative Club is a privilege for Bucs with outstanding character, leadership, & service. All members and parents/guardians will agree to & sign the BPI Constitution & Confidentiality Agreement.

Yearly membership fees will be $15 and T-shirt cost of $15.

Contact heather.saunier@cpsb.org for more information.

Specialized training: Students selected to be a part of the Peer Support Team will attend LivingWorks Trainings to equip them with the knowledge and skills to be alert of warning signs and better able to connect them with further help. Support trainings include:

  • LivingWorks SafeTalk
  • LivingWorks ASIST

How it works:

  • Students can request peer support or can be recommended by a friend, teacher, counselor, administrator, or family member.
  • Peer support takes place in a designated meeting room on campus.
  • Students can also be referred to the MSU Kay Dore Counseling Clinic (free of charge) following a peer counselling session.
